History of Christ The Light

The first service was held on the 1st of January 2008 with an attendance of 38 people, having Brother (now Pastor) Olaniyi Ola as the pioneer pastor. To the glory of God by December 2008, attendance had grown to 124 members. This was simply an act of God, considering the terrain where the church is located.

“God is real, He will make a real difference in your life, and as a result, you can experience real community.”

The faithfulness of God caused a tremendous growth that by May 2012 Christ The Light (CTL) parish was made an Area Headquarters with 3 parishes under her. This feat did not reduce the zeal of the church and by September 2014, the Area Headquarters was elevated to Zonal Headquarters status comprising of three Areas. As a result of the astronomical growth in attendance to an average of 800 people, the church had to start two services on Sunday. By divine arrangement, CTL today has, as the presiding pastor, Samuel Olufemi Adebiyi, the Assistant Pastor-in-Charge of Lagos Province 49 (Corporate Social Responsibility). He was the one the Lord used to plant the church as one of the parishes under Peace Area/Zone of the then Lagos Province 14. Today, the parish has 19 ministers and 60 workers.

Get involved

Our values are what motivate us to do what we do.

Jesus Christ welcomes everyone the way they are. Matt 4:25 says "And there followed Him great multitude of people from Galilee...". For us at CTL, transformation begins at the very first service you attend because we are unashamedly committed to a life of powerful praise and worship, sound teaching of the Word and prayers that move mountains.

Our hands are wide open to welcome you. You will enjoy the love of God in which we bask. We are excited to let you know that it is in God that we live, move and have our being.

The call to service is for every believer because we are saved to serve. Remember Jesus Himself says the harvest is plenty but the labourers are few. It is therefore our great pleasure to invite you to enlist in the Lord’s business venture. We plead that after you have encountered Christ with the experience of genuine salvation, you should:.

1. Join our Believers/Baptismal class:

This class is an avenue to get to know the Lord better. Here you will learn the rudimentary steps of walking with the Lord Jesus. As your heart yearns for more of Him, you get satisfaction for your soul as you punctually attend your class and then you can be baptized by water immersion according to the Lord’s command.

2. Proceed to the Worker's in Training class as the next step.

This shows that you are grateful to God for your salvation and you are ready to work, walk and partner with Him. The class helps to build your faith and prepares you for the task as a co-labourer in His vineyard. Some of the Departments you can function in the body of Christ are:

A. Evangelism

B. Ushering

C. Choir

D. Drama

E. Sunday school

F. Sanitation

G. Visitation and followup

H. Protocol

I. Prayer champion

J. Technical - (Media, Sound, I.T)

3. Partners:

You can equally show greater commitment by being a Partner with Christ on different church projects such as church planting, church building and development, special programmes such as Hour of Mercy, 12-24 Hour Praise, and other needful projects that arise from time to time.

1. The School of Disciples (SOD):

Here you are put on the ever rewarding strait way of discipleship. The SOD was founded by our father in the Lord, the General Overseer of this great Mission (the RCCG) for those who want to feel the heartbeat of our Saviour and graduate from working for Him to walking with Him.

2. The Redeemed Christian Bible College:

The bible is the mind of God with inexhaustible revelation. Knowing the mind of God is a wonderful way to grow. Philippians 3:10 say "That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection..."

For purposes of administration, all diligent workers are afforded the opportunity to express their talents and gifts. When these gifts are recognized, it may become a platform for higher responsibilities in the Body of Christ.

Our beliefs are the foundation of our ministry.

  • We believe the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God.
  • We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years.
  • We believe in the blessed hope – the rapture of the Church at Christ’s coming.
  • We believe the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ.
  • We believe regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
  • We believe in water baptism by immersion.
  • We believe the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.
  • We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.
  • We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation.
